Proceeds from the Saturday auction and gala dinner concert at the Del Mar Hilton will help homeless and disenfranchised San Diego youth.

The name of the Youth Band stems from Photocharity’s weekly Taking Music to the Streets program. It provides free musical instruction and instruments to homeless San Diego youth each Sunday afternoon at Ocean Beach’s Episcopal Church Center.

The bulk of that has funded programs at the Storefront, San Diego Youth Services’ emergency shelter for homeless and runaway youth. Of that amount, $750,000 has come from auctioning signed musical memorabilia donated by the Stones, King, Elton John, The Who, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Shania Twain and others.
Even without this year’s auction proceeds, the Storefront’s music, art and daily breakfast program is already fully funded by Photocharity through June, 2015. Sitcov said his organization is now turning its attention more fully to helping homeless youth between the ages of 18 to 24, for whom very few services are available.
This year’s Photocharity auction items include an Epiphone electric guitar signed by blues giant King, 88, who has singlehandedly helped Photocharity raise $165,000 by donating more than a dozen autographed guitars over the past decade. Also on the block: Two Fender Stratocaster guitars, which were donated and signed earlier this year by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones.Articles Connexes：
